I think that would be an awesome tattoo! I have considered a similar one myself. You can have an artist custom design one to be more feminine or delicate if you want, maybe less ferocious.
I eventually decided I want mine to be more fantasy-style, since I am not Asian and I am really into fantasy and science fiction. I like the fish-scales part of the Chinese Dragon but I'm not so into the demon face, so I will have an artist create one that looks more gentle but still protective.
